Open from 1 April to 31 October, the Lac des Varennes Campsite extends over 9 hectares of greenery in the south of Sarthe, in the heart of the Loir Valley and close to the Châteaux of the Loire. Bordered by the River Loir on one side and a magnificent 50-hectare lake on the other, this lush green setting is ideal for a revitalising holiday with family and friends.
At equal distance from Vendôme and La Flèche, between Le Mans and Tours, and very close to the A28 motorway linking the Normandy coast to the south of France, the Lac des Varennes campsite is a strategic location for exploring the Sarthe area and the Châteaux of the Loire. Whether you're looking for a short stopover on the way to your holiday destination or a longer stay, our campsite will win you over with its natural feel, family atmosphere and proximity to the greenway for bike rides.
Nature & Family Fun
The campsite at Maçon, in Sarthe, offers unusual accommodation to suit all tastes and budgets. Cyclists will enjoy the comfortable barrels, perfect for an overnight stay. Nature lovers can opt for the Victoria or Caraïbe tent, which combine comfort and simplicity. For families, the "Tithome" canvas bungalow, a cross between a chalet and a mobile home, offers an ideal space with a tiled terrace. Each accommodation unit is designed to offer a unique stay, combining modern comfort with the charm of the great outdoors.

ACCOMMODATION
The chalets sleep 4 to 6 people with every comfort, while the mobile homes offer a variety of options: lake view, and 2 or 3 bedroom versions to suit families of different sizes. There is one mobile home specially designed for people with reduced mobility. In 2025 we'll be offering a new PREMIUM mobile home, sleeping up to 6 people, with air conditioning and a double bathroom for an even more pleasant stay.

• Fishing: the Lac des Varennes is a popular spot for fishing enthusiasts, with many species of fish (carp, pike, trout, etc.).

The Lac des Varennes campsite has been awarded the Accueil Vélo (Cyclists Welcome) label. We offer accommodation specifically designed for cyclists, as well as a 20% discount on tent pitches. Cycle routes are available to help you explore the region.
A leisure centre adjoins the campsite, offering a wide range of activities: mini-golf, paddleboarding, pedal boats, sailing, canoeing and much more. You can also take a 3 km walk or bike ride around the lake to enjoy the surrounding countryside.
